This fabulous puzzle is made in Sri Lanka of albizia wood and has two levels of puzzle.
The puzzle is made by Gospel House, an organization that works with young men with little education or financial means. Approximately 100 young men work for Gospel House; 35 work within the workshop and approximately 66 work outside the workshop with artisan groups. In the process, the men learn valuable job skills such as operating a lathe, painting, polishing and sanding wooden toys. The earning opportunities through Gospel House are three to four times higher than the pay would be for equal work elsewhere. The workshop is located in the remote village of Madampe, about 50 miles from Colombo. Gospel House uses albizia wood from the fast-growing albizia tree to create the products they sell.
Gospel House has been recognized both nationally and internationally for its contribution to raising the standard of living of disadvantaged youth as well as contributing to the national economy.
