This round woven basket is handmade in Uganda from banana fiber and raffia palm. It is produced by the National Association of Women’s Organizations of Uganda, which is the uniting force behind a network of 80 independent women’s groups. NAWOU helps each group with health care, social welfare, awareness building, lobbying, advocacy, microfinance and education. Each group is responsible for production, quality control, and transportation to the capital city of Kampala. NAWOU helps with local and export marketing. All the crafts are based in traditional skills and products. Fair Trade
