Charming vegetable finger puppet is handcrafted by artisans of Manos Aymaras, a workshop of Manos Amigas, in the village of Chucuito on Lake Titicaca. These Aymara women have adapted traditional alpaca wool clothing knitting to develop fun finger puppet. Most of the finger puppet knitting is done at home, amongst the many other duties the women must accomplish every day.

Traditionally these women would spin and knit alpaca wool to make their own sweaters, socks, hats, mittens and blankets—necessary for the cool weather of their highland community. In recent years they have adapted these skills to develop a marketable product, the finger puppets, for export.
