When a severe drought devastated Kenya's pasturelands and impacted the livelihood of the Maasai people, Katy and Philip Leakey stepped in to devise a solution. They designed contemporary, stylish products the Masaii people could create using their traditional skills out of local, sustainable natural resources, such as grass and fallen wood. Then the Leakey's figured out how to market the Masaii's products to an international audience, bringing economic stability back to the Masaii.
