An array of folk art floral tiles grace this painted wooden tray.
Hand-painted beauty is created by painstaking “reverse painting” on the
back of glass tiles, beginning with the foreground pattern and ending
with background color. Each piece of glass is painted in blue and
white, using the unique reverse-painted glass technique. First,
artisans create the outline of the design onto the back or reverse side
of the glass using a silk screen process. Details are painted first,
then larger color areas, followed by the background color. Finally, a
coat of varnish is applied to protect the paint. From the Peruvian
artisans of Manos Amigas.
