Climbing a Coconut Tree

E-mail this product to a friend

Photograph by Brittany Bisk

This photograph was taken in Xayabouri, Laos in May of 2008. The happy young boy pictured was climbing a coconut tree to retrieve coconuts. He and his friends then had a blast hacking at the coconuts with a machete until they split open, revealing their sweet juice. The boys joyfully shared the juice among the five of them, passing the coconuts around until they were dry.

Xayabouri is a province and town in Western Laos with about four completely different yet regularly used spellings.
